Walter Becker died today. He wasn’t my hero, but to the guys in Aqueous he was.
(I still really like his music, of course.)
I’m reminded again how important it is to pay tribute to our heroes while they’re still here. Don’t wait for the eulogy to express how meaningful someone’s impact on your life has been. Don’t hesitate to acknowledge the beauty that another person has brought to this world.
Below is a video of one of my favorite bands, Aqueous, performing Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne” earlier this summer (with Joel Cummins from Umphrey’s McGee and Vinnie Amico from moe.). It’s a great rendition and a true moment of musical honor and solidarity.
